吸煙與2019冠狀病毒病

2019冠狀病毒病是由一種新型冠狀病毒引致的病毒性肺炎。病徵包括發燒、乏力、乾咳及呼吸困難。年齡較大或有慢性疾病(例如呼吸道及心血管疾病)患者有較大機會出現嚴重情況甚至死亡。

最新2019冠狀病毒病的研究顯示,吸煙者染病後出現嚴重病徵機會很大可能比不吸煙者為高。吸煙導致呼吸道及心血管疾病,增加患者出現嚴重情況及死亡機會。科學研究亦一早證實吸煙破壞心肺系統的組織和功能,大大降低人體抵禦傳染病和修復的能力,增加感染呼吸道傳染病例如肺炎的機會。

同時,吸煙增加雙手觸摸面部口部的機會,以致增加感染的風險。為健康著想,吸煙者應立即戒煙。

事實上,心肺及循環系統功能在戒煙後短時間內已經會有所改善,例如一氧化碳血含量下降,從而改善身體細胞缺氧狀況。

水煙煙膏由煙草製成,同樣損害健康。一般吸食水煙常見使用公用水煙器具,器具組件(例如喉管及水盆)在每次使用後往往難以徹底消毒。而水煙器具的設計和用法亦非常適合微生物滋長及傳播,過往研究已發現使用水煙增加感染疱疹、肺癆及丙型肝炎等傳染病的風險。因此,大家切勿吸食水煙尤其不要使用公用水煙器具。
