吸烟与2019冠状病毒病

2019冠状病毒病是由一种新型冠状病毒引致的病毒性肺炎。病征包括发烧、乏力、干咳及呼吸困难。年龄较大或有慢性疾病(例如呼吸道及心血管疾病)患者有较大机会出现严重情况甚至死亡。

最新2019冠状病毒病的研究显示,吸烟者染病后出现严重病征机会很大可能比不吸烟者为高。吸烟导致呼吸道及心血管疾病,增加患者出现严重情况及死亡机会。科学研究亦一早证实吸烟破坏心肺系统的组织和功能,大大降低人体抵御传染病和修复的能力,增加感染呼吸道传染病例如肺炎的机会。

同时,吸烟增加双手触摸面部口部的机会,以致增加感染的风险。为健康着想,吸烟者应立即戒烟。

事实上,心肺及循环系统功能在戒烟后短时间内已经会有所改善,例如一氧化碳血含量下降,从而改善身体细胞缺氧状况。

水烟烟膏由烟草制成,同样损害健康。一般吸食水烟常见使用公用水烟器具,器具组件(例如喉管及水盆)在每次使用后往往难以彻底消毒。而水烟器具的设计和用法亦非常适合微生物滋长及传播,过往研究已发现使用水烟增加感染疱疹、肺痨及丙型肝炎等传染病的风险。因此,大家切勿吸食水烟尤其不要使用公用水烟器具。
