Clients will be offered protocol-driven counselling and treatment, in either individual or group session basis. Treatment plans are tailor-made to suit individual client’s needs. Clients will be regularly followed up as appropriate either by face-to-face or telephone sessions. A client will normally receive 6 counselling sessions over 12 months at predefined time points. Additional sessions may be provided on needs basis or initiated by clients. Pharmacotherapies including nicotine replacement therapy may be provided for clients based on clinical indications. There is also a Quitline (Tel: 2300 7272) for enquiry and telephone counselling.

There are currently over 60 SCCS under HA. The centres are located in general outpatient clinics, special outpatient clinics and hospitals spread across different districts of Hong Kong, providing easy access by clients. Service targets are primarily patients referred by healthcare professionals, particularly patients with chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes mellitus, who would benefit from better disease management and complications prevention through smoking cessation. Any person who wishes to enquire or make use of the SCCS is also welcome.
