Men sentenced for intimidation of Tobacco control Inspector

3 Jul 2009

Kwun Tong Magistracy today (July 3) ordered a 43-year-old man to perform 140 hours of community service for intimidating a Tobacco Control Inspector (TCI) of the Department of Health (DH).

The incident took place in a restaurant at Un Chau Street, Cheung Sha Wan on March 28 this year.

The man criminally intimidated a Tobacco Control Inspector when a team of TCIs was inspecting the restaurant. He was subsequently arrested and was charged by the Police.

A DH spokesman urged the public to observe smoking prohibitions and to co-operate with law enforcement officers.

"Intimidation of or use of violence on enforcement officers is a serious offence and carries serious legal consequences," the spokesman said.
